BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU ASK FOR . . .
And so the Combating Autism Act will be passed after all. As I feared, we will be getting a “Bartonized” version that will make it even less likely that we will see any meaningful research into environmental causes coming out of all this. The more I learn ⎯ and I’ve been learning a lot lately ⎯ the more I come to the conclusion that this bill is nothing more than a large Trojan Horse.
And every member of Congress who votes for it can say, “but it’s what the autism community wanted.”
{Sarcasm alert!} Thanks Autism Speaks, thanks a lot.

Extremely disappointing. But even if the favored language had been restored... having Julie Gerberding at the head of the committee that controls the money is shortsheeting the bed from the get-go, isn't it?

I think 'trojan horse' is what we need to focus on. Best wishes
Or if it is indeed a Trojan Horse, perhaps we ought to start looking out for the Greeks inside, whoever they may be.
The truth is already out there, and so many physicians and researchers know it, additional funds will bring the doubters closer to stumbling onto it. As lacking as this bill is compared to what should be done, it's still moving forward, not backward.
I agree it's dissapointing, but I remain the eternal optimist, and compared to what was "known" a decade ago, the progress is astronomical.
Sigh...yet something tells me the future holds something BIG...
